Remote sensing science
EarthMapps is a research team under supervision of Stef Lhermitte at both the Department of Earth & Environmental Science of KU Leuven (100%) and the Department of Geoscience & Remote Sensing of Delft University of Technology (TUDelft; 20%) under supervision of Stef Lhermitte. We focus on the use of multi-source satellite imagery to assess land-atmosphere interactions. Our research aims at developing innovative remote sensing methods for quantifying the effect of climate (change) on snow/ice, vegetation dynamics, etc. and determine their (climate) feedbacks. We work on big data and machine learning solutions to bridge the gap between remote sensing technology and its (scientific) applications.
